“where waste becomes raw material”
P.l.a waste shredder
This custom P.L.A waste shredder was developed as a standalone component of my final Master’s project: the collaborative Industry 5.0 investigation with Nick Brown. The shredder was designed to process failed prints and surplus plastic into uniform fragments, it established the first step in a circular manufacturing cycle. By reframing disposal as transformation, the shredder repositioned waste as the starting point for new design opportunities. As the entry stage in the ecosystem, it demonstrated how sustainable infrastructures can underpin more experimental explorations of production and consumption. The shredder itself featured a fully 3D-printed body, integrating upcycled and disused machinery and mechanical components, further reinforcing its commitment to reuse and sustainability.
